A Brief History
“Being a family means you are a part of something very wonderful. It means you will love and be loved for the rest of your life,” said Lisa Weed. A good family relationship tends to make a child feel more secure and loved throughout his/her developmental period. They are “the feel-good factor” of our lives who have always got our back, no matter how worse the situation gets. A warm family inculcates the habit of open communication, division of equal share of responsibility and respects each of its members, equally. A good happy and peaceful family is an antidote to all the miseries of one’s life. While growing up in a cordial environment, a person is said to learn qualities like teamwork and gratitude. Also, people staying with a family tend to resolve conflicts and deal with various problems in their lives, quite effectively. Although, there is some sort of dependency still each of its members respects the differences of opinion on various matters. So, no matter what the world says spending some quality time is much-needed and is not at all considered to be childish at all. Note: This post is sponsored by FlowerAura.

Mostly after a certain age, people try to claim themselves as an “adult” and move out of their parent’s house to live independently. This common scenario is faced by all the Westerners but so is not quite a scenario commonly seen in nations like India. As India is a land of various cultures and traditions and the concept of good family does not work that way. Only and if, due to some professional or educational commitments an average Indian would have to stay apart from his/her family. Even during festive times, people tend to bring their families, closer than ever. They simply do not let distance infect their emotions so send rakhi to UK or even send rakhi to Australia to celebrate the brother-sister bond. Also, on some other festivals like Diwali, Holi, etc., they make sure to either bring each of its members home or send their token of love across them. Simply to pass on the feeling of “home away from home”!
Now, if you are apart from your family (for whatever XYZ reason) and are feeling as you have lost that touch, it’s never late to rekindle that spark in your LDR with your family. Here’s what you need to do to maintain a strong bond with them, even being miles apart from them.
- Talk to them every day. Share your daily-life update. Include them in your every laugh and every tear. Bond with each of your family members. If you do not have much to ask – just ask them how they have been doing?
- Take their advice on those things where you seem to get lost or confused. Talk your heart out to them.
- Celebrate special occasions like birthdays or anniversaries over a video call, as you can’t meet them in person. Convey your love, hugs and kisses to them, virtually. Also, make sure to send a token of your love via online delivery at their doorstep.
- Solve problems together. Listen to them calmly first, then consider other options and find constructive solutions. This way it will show that you respect their opinion.
- Appreciate them, genuinely. It could be about anything like for e.g., the colour of lipstick, they are wearing or even for the piece of advice they passed to you. A Little act of kindness or gratitude can make a lot of difference in improving your relationship with them.
- Finally, let them know how much you miss them! How badly you want to return home and give them all a tight hug. Their heart will surely melt into tears.
So, these were all about the ways to maintain a strong distant family relationship. Whatever you do, make sure to keep in mind that – All we need is love. Love is all we need.
