On December 26, 1871, the famous opera writing duo of Gilbert and Sullivan collaborated on Thespis, the first of many operas the much beloved pair worked together on.
On December 26, 1919, the owner of the Boston Red Sox gave the owner of the New York Yankees probably the greatest Christmas gift in history when he sold Babe Ruth, the greatest baseball player of all time to him.
Created in 1965 and celebrated between December 26 and January 1, the week-long holiday of Kwanzaa was purposely timed to coincide with the Christmas, which does not make sense since Kwanzaa is supposed link to the harvest of fruits and vegetables.
On December 26, 1982, Time Magazine broke with tradition and for the first time ever named a non-human as its “Man of the Year” (MOY) when they named the Personal Computer the cover model of its iconic issue.
On December 26, 1986, a new National Day was declared in “honor” of the most serious of the whiners in this fair land.
On December 26, 2004, former NFL defensive end and perennial All Pro Reggie White was rushed to the hospital where he died from cardiac arrhythmia.
On December 26, 2013, Major Dan asked, “Is December 26 the most wacked date in history?”
On December 26, 2022, the British world, including Canada, celebrated Boxing Day, a holiday historically when well off people would give gifts to their servants, lower working class, and poor people.
On December 26, 2023, hordes of recipients of unwanted Christmas gifts started the annual pilgrimage to the stores to return those hated gifts.
