January 31, 2017: Idiot of the Month Awards for January 2017

    A Brief History

On January 31, 2017, we at History and Headlines recognize those people who, during this month, not necessarily in the past, have either done some disreputable thing or their disreputable past has come to light.  Whether you call them villains, jerks, creeps, idiots or whatever, these people have brought shame upon themselves, at least for this month if not for their lives or careers.  By including a person and their action in this list we do not condemn that person to a lifetime label as an idiot, just labeling them an idiot for this specific month.

    Digging Deeper

Special Mention: Israel Alvarez, 44 year old scumbag from Lorain, Ohio for hit skipping and killing a Cleveland Police Officer while the officer was assisting at the scene of an accident on I-90 on January 24.

“According to Lorain County Common Pleas Court records, Alvarez has convictions for aggravated trafficking in drugs, drug abuse, possession of criminal tools and possession of drug abuse paraphernalia stemming from two cases that were brought forth in October and December of 1993.

Elyria Municipal Court records show Alvarez also pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated and possession of marijuana in July 1993.

Most recently, Alvarez pleaded guilty to trafficking and possession of heroin in July 2015, according to Lorain County Common Pleas records. He was ordered to serve two years of community control, but was discharged from probation as of Dec. 20, 2016.”  (see News-Herald.com)

    10.  Donald Trump, serial lying.

After comparing the US intelligence community to Nazi Germany, the new President denied doing just that.  Trump also claimed the weather during his inaugural address was sunny and fair (it was not), that he had amassed the largest crowd ever for a presidential inauguration (he did not), that not only did “3 to 5 million” people vote illegally during the 2016 presidential election, but that every one of those illegal voters voted for Hillary Clinton (with no proof, no evidence, no basis at all for the assertion!), and that the “real” unemployment rate in the US was 42% and that the 4.7% quoted by the US Government was a lie (WTF?).  On top of these blatant untruths, The Donald reneged on his promise to release his tax records “once the audit is over,” a mysterious audit he has provided no proof or evidence of, and further that the American people do not want to see his tax returns anyway.  Sorry Charlie, the American people want to see your tax returns with a 76% majority.  The situation has become so pervasive and ridiculous, that Trump spokespersons refer to these lies as “alternate facts.”  OMG!!!  On top of the blatant falsehoods, The Donald proves again and again that he is incapable of any show of class or being “presidential,” and each time someone seems to criticize or insult him, he responds much as a little kid on a playground (eg. referring to Meryl Streep as an “over rated actress”).  Any optimism that Trump would act like an adult after being sworn in has been crushed by reality.

    9.  Monica Crowley, serial plagiarizer.

This liar was tapped to be the Trump administration pick for the National Security Council Director of Communications, until she withdrew herself from consideration when CNN broke the story that she had plagiarized her dissertation and also her book, to the tune of 50 incidents in the book alone!

    8. Meryl Streep, actress that thinks she is a social justice warrior.

Streep, arguably the greatest Hollywood actress in history, used her bully pulpit at the Golden Globe Awards to denounce President Trump, and in the process insulted millions of Americans by denigrating the extremely popular sports of professional football and mixed martial arts.  Hey lady, you do not have to cut down other Americans just to attack the President.  Unlike Hollywood movies, which are mostly fiction, football and MMA are genuine and are as legitimate a form of entertainment as any damn movie.  “Hollywood is crawling with outsiders and foreigners,” Streep said. “If we kick them all out, you’ll have nothing to watch but football and mixed martial arts, which are not the arts.”  Streep apparently does not know that MMA is highly integrated by numerous fighters and teams from a myriad of nations and regions.  Unlike the distant past, the NFL also has players not born in the mainland United States and from all sorts of ethnic backgrounds.

    7.  Madonna, advocating blowing up the White House.

At The Women’s March on Washington the “Like a Virgin” singer capped off an expletive laden tirade against President Trump with a claim that she has thought about  “blowing up the White House.”  (Back in October of 2016 she had offered to perform oral sex on anyone that would vote for Hillary Clinton, so at least she is willing to put her mouth where her money is!)  Special mention also goes out to Ashley Judd, self described “nasty woman” who went on a nearly unintelligible rant calling President Trump Hitler and his administration Nazis.  Of course, this is the actress that claims yellow emojis are racist!

    6.  Violent Inaugural Protesters.

Not only do we condemn violence, it is especially ridiculous to take out displeasure on people and things that are not the source of one’s unhappiness.  Anti-Trump protesters destroyed property (cars, news kiosks, store windows, etc) that had nothing at all to do with President Trump, and also fought with police officers that likewise had nothing to do with President Trump or his election.  Throwing rocks, chunks of cement and bottles at police officers (many of whom are undoubtedly Clinton supporters), burning cars belonging to total strangers, and wrecking newsstands did not eloquently present the protesters’ side of their argument.

    5.  4 Chicago African-Americans who kidnapped and tortured special needs teen.

Seen on a live Facebook stream, the horrifying treatment of a mentally disabled White teen featured shouts of “Fuck Trump!” and “Fuck White People!,” The terror went on for somewhere between 24 and 48 hours.  At least all 4 of these creeps have been arrested and face decades in prison.  Three of the offenders are 18 years old and one is 24 (2 males and 2 females).

    4.  Esteban Santiago, Airport Shooter.

Another mentally ill goof that was given rudimentary psychiatric treatment after he approached authorities with a plea for help due to his mental illness, this US Army veteran shot up Ft. Lauderdale Florida airport, killing 5 people.  On the other hand, perhaps the Idiot List should include the mental health authorities that failed to recognize the depths of the danger this troubled young man presented.  Special mention must go out to ISIS for their idiotic internet videos that Santiago watched and derived his motivation for mass murder from.  How was this idiot not placed on the dreaded “No fly List?”

    3.   Terrorist Shooting at Istanbul nightclub.

Peaceful people celebrating the New Year were attacked in Istanbul, Turkey, with 39 killed and 70 wounded by a shooter described as wearing either a Santa Claus suit or at least a Santa Claus hat.  The terrorist was arrested a couple weeks later and confessed to the terror attack.  He was described as an Uzbek man born in 1983.  Other conspirators have not been identified.  ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack.  Again, people were attacked that are not necessarily enemies of the attacker at all.

    2.  Electronic Book Burners aka Deletionists at Wikipedia.

In acts of profound intellectual snobbery, these people that do their best to delete every article they personally do not find interesting or entertaining are depriving readers of a broad palette of information by inflicting their own bias on the deletion/inclusion debate.  How smug, vainglorious, selfish, pompous, self absorbed and egocentric can these folks be to tell us what we can and cannot read?  These soi disant moral experts could use a dose of their own medicine and have their pet topics belittled and deleted!

    1.  ISIS destroying historical structures.

Call the Islamic State terrorists ISIS or ISIL, either way they are destroying their way across whatever path they take in an effort to get rid of any historical art, building, or trace of anything they find that is not of the Islamic era.  Irreplaceable and priceless artifacts have been destroyed, including In January 2017 the ancient Roman theater in Palmyra, Syria.

“But I don’t want to go among mad people," Alice remarked. "Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat: "we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad." "How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice. "You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn’t have come here.” ― Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland
