A Brief History
During the Roaring Twenties (1920s), the word “dating” entered the American language. Today, dating is sometimes seen as a precursor to marriage, but it could also be considered as an end-in-itself, that is, an informal social activity akin to friendship. When dating, the first impression that you are going to make largely depends on your outfit.

1. First impression
First of all, it is necessary to spend time choosing your wardrobe. Secondly, stylish clothes will not only allow you to emphasize your strong sides but also give you self-confidence. Thirdly, having neat clothes is an elementary way of showing respect to a girl. Also, stylish clothes will show that you have a sense of fashion taste; they will help a young lady to get a good impression about you, which will only increase the likelihood that you are going to have a second date.
2. Date
You should immediately think about the meeting place; your appearance will largely depend on this. If this is a walk, then you need to dress according to the weather, in the style of sports–casual and wear comfortable shoes. If it is a restaurant or theater, then your outfit should be more elegant, in a classic or the smart-casual style.
On a date, it is better not to wear too rustic sports-style jeans and, even more so, well-worn clothing. Let it be black or dark blue jeans and an ironed shirt in soothing tones, which should be tucked into pants. To complement the outfit, polished shoes and a stylish men’s belt to match the shoes will help. Also, it is worth knowing some great romantic cities to visit with your girlfriend. 3. Blazer
Your jacket is also quite important, namely the blazer – a jacket worn with trousers of a different color and material. In this case, a jacket should be picked according to your physique. In a jacket, you will look courageously and, at the same time, stylish. Moreover, a jacket is a universal thing; it is ideal for both walking, meeting in a restaurant, or going to a theater.
4. Footwear
As for the shoes, it’s not necessary to wear exclusively classic shoes on a date, especially if you don’t wear them in everyday life. Perhaps, fashionable sneakers or moccasins will look better, that is, shoes that will give confidence should be your main priority. They need to be selected based on the date of the meeting and weather conditions. By the way, do not forget to warn your girlfriend about the type of a date you are going to have because an outfit for a picnic or a walk in the park is seriously different from an evening dress for going to an opera.
5. Accessories
Do not forget about stylish accessories. It is important not to overdo it since wearing gold jewelry, especially if it is massive chains and bracelets, you will look like an idiot. And this can ruin the impression of a date. Let it be graceful cufflinks on a shirt, a beautiful leather belt, a fashionable men’s bracelet, or a pocket silk scarf, looking out of a jacket pocket. It is worth considering and choosing a little thing that emphasizes your personality. Definitely you also need the special style to match these accessories.
6. Hairstyle
A hairstyle is another important detail of your appearance that you should not forget about. Do not try to experiment with hair on the eve of your first date; if you are not confident in your hairstyle, you will not be able to relax and make the right impression on your girlfriend. Besides, you should not look too different from the first date that you have had, and therefore it is not worth inventing anything here. Let your hair be clean and beautifully styled, light carelessness is in fashion, so do not overdo it with styling products. Clean, well-groomed nails, lack of hair in the nose, on the back of the head and in the ears – all these little things need attention.
7. Perfume
As for the perfume, you should not pour the entire bottle on top of yourself: the aroma of perfume should barely perceptible. And remember that perfumes must be applied to a clean body and clothes you should smell of cleanliness and freshness – this point is important.
