    Tom & Jerry

    A Brief History

On February 26, 2021, live-action/computer-animated slapstick comedy Tom & Jerry is scheduled to be released in the United States by Warner Bros. Pictures in both theaters and on HBO Max for 31 days from theatrical release.  I have ten Fandango movie passes to give away – each one is good for two people (value: $30).  For a chance to receive one of these passes, please send an email to admin@historyandheadlines.com with the subject of “Tom & Jerry movie pass” as well as a screenshot included with your email showing that you are subscribed to our YouTube channel.  The ten recipients of the passes will be determined in the order emails for this opportunity are received and if the above instructions were followed correctly.  Also, if you would like to be notified of future screening opportunities, I strongly encourage you to subscribe to our YouTube channel, like our Facebook page, and follow our Twitter profile.

    Digging Deeper

One of the most beloved rivalries in history is reignited when Jerry moves into New York City’s finest hotel on the eve of “the wedding of the century,” forcing the event’s desperate planner to hire Tom to get rid of him, in director Tim Story’s Tom & Jerry. The ensuing cat and mouse battle threatens to destroy her career, the wedding and possibly the hotel itself, but soon, an even bigger problem arises: a diabolically ambitious staffer conspiring against all three of them.

An eye-popping blend of classic animation and live action, Tom and Jerry’s new big-screen adventure stakes new ground for the iconic characters and forces them to do the unthinkable… work together to save the day.

Similar to such other films as SCOOB, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Alvin & the Chipmunks, please find more details about this new film below.

    Running Time: 101 minutes

MPAA Rating: PG for “cartoon violence, rude humor and brief language.”

THREE MESSAGES THE FILM BRINGS HOME:

    1. WORKING TOGETHER – For the first time ever animated Tom and Jerry, masters of destruction and mayhem, are brought to life in the real world. Mis-matched partners chained together to achieve a common goal offers a comedic promise. These frenemies are really bad at being good which delivers ultimate fun and chaos.
    2. The movie is DELIGHTFUL FUN: PHYSICAL COMEDY BALANCED WITH CLEVER HUMOR.
    3. TOM & JERRY IS CONTEMPORIZED FOR TODAY’S AUDIENCE by being set in the real world of New York alongside human characters to provide a contemporary, cool quotient and cultural relevance.

Question for students (and subscribers): Are you planning on seeing this film?  Please let us know in the comments section below this article.
