    A Brief History

    Action comedy film fans of John Carroll University, here is your chance to be among the first in Cleveland, Ohio to see Action Point on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 7:00 PM at Regal Great Northern Mall Stadium 10 + RPX in North Olmsted, Ohio!  Please visit this link for the chance to download a pass.   Passes are limited and seating is first-come, first-served and not guaranteed.  Please arrive early to increase your chance of entry.

    Digging Deeper  

    In Action Point, D.C. is the crackpot owner of Action Point, a low-rent, out-of-control amusement park where the rides are designed with minimum safety for maximum fun.  Just as D.C.’s estranged teenage daughter Boogie comes to visit, a corporate mega-park opens nearby and jeopardizes the future of Action Point.  To save his beloved theme park and his relationship with his daughter, D.C. and his loony crew of misfits risk everything to pull out all the stops – and stunts – making for another wild ride.

    The film is directed by Tim Kirkby and stars Johnny Knoxville as D.C.  The film will be released in the United States on June 1, 2018.

    The film is based on a theme park in New Jersey called Action Park, which was notorious for poorly designed, unsafe rides; in addition to employing under-aged, under-trained, and often under-the-influence staff.

    Cannonball Loop, the infamous looping waterslide, was only opened for brief periods in Action Park’s existence.

    JCU Paranormal Research Group

    The John Carroll Paranormal Research Group is a student organization that seeks to find out more about the paranormal while being academically intent and focusing on establishing credibility. Founded in the Fall of 2013 by Eugene Claridge and Raymond Camma, the BooStreaks have held many informative meetings that have included guest speakers, such as Dr. Judith Cetina and Bill Kreji, who appeared on Ghost Hunters in 2009. The group has worked with the Ohio P.I.R.A.T.E.S., a paranormal team out of Akron, Ohio, to learn some of their methods and to hear about their work. The Paranormal Research Group has conducted investigations in the following locations: the Cleveland Agora Theatre, the Ohio State Reformatory, the Russell Rhodes Mansion (a.k.a. the Cuyahoga County Archives), and the Sandy Chanty Seafood Restaurant. John Carroll University has recognized the group both in the Carroll News and most importantly, as the "Outstanding Organization of the Year." Not only has the group been able to explore the paranormal subject and investigated historically important locations in Ohio, but members had the fortunate opportunity to see advance screenings of major motion pictures that feature the paranormal, particularly The Quiet Ones (2013).
