Tickets will be left at the Box Office that evening.
Digging Deeper
The Kent Blossom Music Festival, an educational partnership between Kent State University, The Cleveland Orchestra, and Blossom Music Center, returns for its 55th season from July 2 through August 6.
The presenting partner of the Kent Blossom Music Festival 2023 Season is the Kulas Foundation, which was established in 1937 with the primary purpose of supporting the musical arts in the Greater Cleveland area. “The Kulas Foundation is thrilled to present the 55th Kent Blossom Music Festival season,” said Nancy McCann, President of the Kulas Foundation. “We are confident that our support of this program will continue to positively impact our community, showcase remarkable talent, and inspire future generations of classical musicians.”
Kent Blossom Music Festival will host four faculty concerts featuring more than 15 outstanding professional musicians, 11 young artist concerts featuring 43 student participants from all over the world, and a side-by-side concert with The Cleveland Orchestra at Blossom Music Center. All faculty concerts will be ticketed and take place in Kent State University Glauser School of Music’s Ludwig Recital Hall in Kent.
“I am incredibly thankful to our presenting sponsor, the Kulas Foundation; its generous support allows us to engage with internationally-renowned artists, to present exceptional concerts, and to provide extensive educational opportunities for our young artists,” said Ricardo Sepulveda, Director of the Kent Blossom Music Festival. “I am honored to be part of this distinctive festival and thankful for the continued scholarship support from our donors for our young artists traveling from all over the world.”
The Faculty Concert Series begins Wed., July 5 at 7:30 p.m. featuring virtuoso wind quintet WindSync. The second concert showcasing Visiting Artists pianist Orion Weiss, violinist William Hagen, and members of The Cleveland Orchestra will be on Wed., July 12 at 7:30 p.m. The Festival’s third concert welcomes a Northeast Ohio favorite, the Miami String Quartet, to the Ludwig Recital Hall Wed., July 19 at 7:30 p.m.
Concluding the 2023 Faculty Concert Series will be Festival faculty Jessica Sindell, assistant principal flute of The Cleveland Orchestra flute, Joela Jones, piano, and Richard Weiss, first assistant principal cello of The Cleveland Orchestra. Jessica, Joela and Richard are alumni of the festival and their concert will be on Wed., August 2 at 7:30pm. An additional 11 Young Artist concerts will take place throughout Northeast Ohio at various venues including: the Hudson Library and Historical Society; Laurel Lake Retirement Community in Hudson; Mixon Hall in Cleveland; Judson Senior Living’s South Franklin Circle in Chagrin Falls; and Ludwig Recital Hall in Kent.
Our season ends with a concert at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls on Sat., Aug. 5 with the Kent Blossom Chamber Orchestra performing at 6 p.m. conducted by Assistant Conductor of The Cleveland Orchestra, Daniel Reith, and a side-by-side concert on-stage with The Cleveland Orchestra at 7 p.m. led by guest conductor, David Robertson.
Subscriptions and single tickets for the Faculty Concert Series can be purchased starting June 5. Pricing options are available for college students, seniors, and adults. Kent Blossom Music Festival is a 55-year-old educational partnership between Kent State University, The Cleveland Orchestra, and Blossom Music Center. During the summer, Young Artists from around the world study with members of The Cleveland Orchestra, Glauser School of Music faculty, and guest artists on the Kent State University Kent Campus. On average, 16 Faculty and Young Artist concerts are presented every season.
