A Brief History
On July 3, 1958, The Andy Williams Show premiered on ABC, later to evolve into a long running show from 1962 to 1971 with minor comebacks in following years. Music was first provided by the New Christy Minstrels folk group and in 1962 the Osmond Brothers provided musical entertainment.
Digging Deeper
Typical of the day, the Andy Williams Show was clean, family-oriented entertainment. While movies and TV shows have made progress since then in production value, special effects, sets, costumes, and general quality, there are a few things we hate about modern video programming. Do you agree?
First, we are sick of people throwing up on screen. Seriously, who wants to see people vomiting “entertainment?” Why do they include these scenes?
Second, bathroom activity is another topic we prefer left implied at most. We have no desire to watch such bodily functions!
Finally, if we never hear another baby crying and howling in a TV series or movie, we will be happy!
Question for students (and subscribers) to ponder: What do you hate about modern TV and movies?
