Digging Deeper
On January 2, 2023, Americans were shocked when a beloved screen actor, Jeremy Renner, was reported to be in critical condition after suffering massive injuries involved with a snow removal vehicle he was using in Nevada. The giant Sno-cat tracked snow plow had run over Renner’s leg, causing the trauma.
Then, during the Monday Night Football Game, Buffalo Bills’ safety Damar Hamlin suffered some sort of cardiac arrest immediately after making a violent tackle, causing the footballer to need CPR and electro-shock defibrillation while still on the field.
Both of these civic minded men are in critical condition in hospitals. our best wishes go out to these fine men and their loved ones.
Note: A special shout out goes to the neighbors that helped save Jeremy Renner until rescue crews could arrive, and to those magnificent emergency techs, helicopter crew and hospital heroes that saved him. Likewise, the rapid and professional emergency medical techs that raced to restart Damar Hamlin on the football field, the EMT’s that treated him and took him to the hospital where the emergency crew performed their own brand of modern miracles. Finally, a host of concerned citizens have poured their hard earned dollars into the charity for children championed by Damar Hamlin, donating something around $4 million. We live in an age of advanced emergency medical care and of heroes that prove humanity is not without substance!
