A Brief History
On March 31, 2018, we published an article about “Jerks of the Month,” a topic we have touched upon from time to time. Today, we modify our approach to discuss only those jerks as they relate to our coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic that is killing people across the country and the world and threatens to destroy our economy. This pandemic is serious business and it needs serious people to beat the sneaky illness, NOT Jerks! (Feel free to add your own nominees to our list or to dispute those persons we have cited.) See our other article “What is Really Going on with Coronavirus?” Obviously, not all Americans are on board with the program to limit the spread of what may prove to be a deadly pandemic. Some goofs, jerks if you will, are actually working to undermine the efforts the rest of us are taking to comply with government suggestions and orders for the national benefit. Maybe these jerks are just stupid, or perhaps they just do not believe in the real danger posed by the pandemic. Either way…

Digging Deeper
Coronavirus party in Kentucky, woman tests positive.
Morons in Kentucky, an otherwise wonderful state known for fried chicken, bourbon and horse racing, not to mention being the source of Corvettes, threw a “Coronavirus Party” attended by young adults apparently in defiance of the tiny, unseen little virus that could not possibly pose a major risk to such luminaries as these party goers. Of course, a young woman that attended the party later tested positive for coronavirus, and the other 40 attendees that have scattered are likely to also test positive, at least some of them. How many innocent Americans will be infected because of such stupidity remains to be seen, and of course, there is a good chance some Americans will die because of the cavalier attitude of these jerks.
Man licks deodorant in stores.
In Missouri, the “Show Me State,” a man took video of himself licking the containers of deodorant on a Walmart shelf. He is seen saying, “Who’s scared of coronavirus?” Well, maybe the nearly 1300 Americans that have died of the disease so far (as of March 27, 2020). This moron uploaded his video to Snapchat and Twitter. Not surprisingly, he has been arrested, has been identified as 26-year-old Cody Lee Pfister, of Warrenton.
Man coughs on clerk, says he has coronavirus.
A 50 year old New Jersey man with the intellect of a 2 year old coughed on a store clerk while laughingly claiming to have coronavirus. George Falcone, the miscreant involved, is facing charges that include making terroristic threats among others. Falcone pulled his idiotic stunt in response to the clerk asking him to back off a bit as he was quite close to her. Notice the clerk was a “her.” I would like to see this idiot pull that trick on a capable looking man. Here is hoping he goes to jail for a period long enough to learn the errors of his ways.
Teens cough on produce.
In Loudoun County, Virginia, a couple of teens thought it would be a good idea to make a big show of themselves coughing on fresh produce at a grocery store. Of course, being of sub-standard intelligence, they then posted the heinous activity on social media. While the store was compelled to throw away all potentially contaminated food, local police say the teens (juveniles) will not be charged criminally. WHY NOT???

A Scranton, Pennsylvania woman proved age is no indicator of maturity by purposely coughing on a large quantity of produce at a grocery store. The store had to throw out about $35,000 worth of contaminated produce. The adult woman is apparently a repeat problem for the local police and is believed to possibly have mental health issues. She is being evaluated prior to the decision whether or not to charge her with a crime or crimes.
Man escapes quarantine, is caught and put back in house.
A 53 year old man in the hospital in Kentucky for coronavirus left the hospital despite being told not to, and ended up in his house surrounded by deputy sheriffs who promise to stay there 24/7 to keep the irresponsible guy from infecting others.
Man with corona positive daughter takes other daughter to dance.
A Missouri dad with a daughter at home that has tested positive for coronavirus defied the “stay at home” suggestion and took his other daughter to a school dance, possibly exposing many other people including students to the virus.
Texas Lieutenant Governor says better to have old people die than ruin the economy.
Dan Patrick, the 70 year old Lt. Governor of Texas is eager for the US and his state to end the anti-coronavirus protocols that he sees as ruining the economy. While most Americans are also eager to see the end of all the restrictions that are limiting activity and keeping many Americans out of work, most people understand these steps are necessary to prevent mass deaths due to the pandemic. Not Dan Patrick! He says that he and other old people would rather die than have the economy ruined. Speak for yourself, Dan! He claims he has “talked to hundreds of people” who agree with him. “Let’s get back to work. Let’s get back to living,” he told Fox News reporter Tucker Carlson. This genius and others like him just do not get the fact that even if they want to go back to normal, even if it means infecting millions of other people, that those other people should not endangered because of the irresponsible people’s actions. Actions have reactions, and that is a fact, Jack. So what if we did as Patrick says, and just went about business and let nature take its course, possibly killing hundreds of thousands or millions of Americans? Our economy would probably be ruined. So there you are, Dan.
Brothers hoard massive trove of hand sanitizer.
Two Tennessee men, brothers, got the bright idea that the initial stages of the coronavirus outbreak would result in massive demand for hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes. They were right. The brothers, Noah and Matt Colvin, set about Tennessee and Kentucky, buying all of those supplies they could get their hands on, looking to make a huge profit. About 17,700 bottles of hand sanitizer were among the items accumulated by the enterprising teens. They had started to sell the items at enormous price mark-ups (from $8 to $70 per bottle of hand sanitizer) on Amazon and eBay before those internet giants shut them down. Facing incredible backlash, the brothers have donated their stash to churches and other charities in Tennessee and Kentucky. The brothers have previously profited from fad buying trends on the internet by looking for hot items, then buying them up and reselling them at inflated prices (including trending athletic shoes and toys). When people try to profit from the misery of others, we say, “People are no damn good!”
Spring Breakers.
Florida beaches were reported to be crowded with college students defying advice to avoid crowds during Spring Break, and many were defiant in their unwillingness to take the coronavirus seriously. Numerous television interviews with sarcastic smart mouthed party hounds make one wonder about the future of our species.
Senator Rand Paul.
As a Libertarian leaning Republican conservative, Paul is of the camp that touts personal liberty and freedom of choice (except for abortion), and he did not feel self-quarantining himself after being tested for suspected COVID-19 was a reasonable limitation on his own activities although such self-quarantine is intended to PROTECT OTHERS. So, this irresponsible troll went to the gym as usual, and endangered numerous other people by his presence, including other members of Congress, some of whom were intensely upset with him, as they should be! Of course, Paul’s test came back positive and it remains to be seen if his callous disregard for the rights of others will end up leading to the death of any other human(s).
Florida governor Ron DeSantis.
This guy just does not get it. While Florida is rapidly becoming another coronavirus hotspot, he refuses to issue a “shelter in place” or “stay at home” type of order than other states with intelligent governors have done. Is he living in fantasyland or is he playing politics? Either way, what a jerk!
China lying about coronavirus.
Not only did our #1 trading partner lie about the start of coronavirus and not warn the rest of the world in a timely manner, they also promulgated a false narrative conspiracy theory that the United States created the coronavirus and is using it against China as a bioweapon. Finally, they are currently lying their pants off about having turned the tide against the virus, and lying even more about the number of cases and deaths in the country. How can we say that? The number of burial urns to hold the cremated ashes of dead people has seen an incredible increase in numbers of the urns sent to Wuhan, the ground zero of the coronavirus outbreak. Photos of 5000 urns being sent to funeral homes in Wuhan are in stark contrast to the “official” death toll of only 23 people in China over the past week! The lying is blatant and obvious, and does the world a great disservice.
