A Brief History On October 2, 1789, President George Washington sent to the States for ratification a list of Amendments to the Constitution, a list we now refer to as “The Bill of Rights.” Digging Deeper These first 10 Amendments to the US Constitution would eventually be followed by 27 more Amendments that have been ratified by the States, giving us a total of 37 such Amendments. A Brief History On October 2, 1942, the Royal Navy teamed up with the Cunard White Star Line to pull off yet another of Naval History’s great “Oops” moments.  In this incident, the giant luxury liner, RMS Queen Mary, collided with her own escort, the HMS Curacoa, an anti-aircraft cruiser, sinking the hapless cruiser. A Brief History On October 2, 1980, Michael Myers was expelled from Congress; the first person to suffer that indignity since the Civil War.  Not to be confused with the murderous wacko from the Halloween movie series who is also named Michael Myers, Congressman Myers was a representative from Pennsylvania who had been caught taking a $50,000 bribe in what became known as the Abscam scandal in which the corruption of multiple U.S. politicians was exposed by the FBI.  Come to think of it, the movie character is probably embarrassed to be named Michael Myers!
