A Brief History
On May 3, 2017, France is facing an upcoming contentious and momentous election that largely revolves around the national character of the country and the issue of immigration, especially Muslim immigration in the wake of terrorist incidents.

Emmanuel Macron, born 1977, is running for President of France on a secular and liberal platform that is pro-immigration (open door policy) and pro-European Union. His opponent, conservative Marine le Pen is running on a nationalistic platform against accepting further Muslim refugees from the Middle East and with an eye for pulling the country out of the European Union, a sort of Frexit (ala Brexit).
Finding work as an investment banker marks Macron as a dubious champion of the masses, but what strikes us as creepy is the fact that this guy is married to his high school teacher 24 years older than he is, whom he met when he was only 15! She, if not he, belongs in jail! Macron’s parents tried and failed to prevent and suppress the relationship.
Unfortunately, things are not necessarily fair when it comes to men and women and relationships, and senior men are far more likely to be prosecuted or persecuted for hooking up with a juvenile female than an older woman is for latching on to a young lad in her care.
A home-grown USA example of this double standard is the former US Speaker of the House of Representatives, Newt Gingrich, who married his high school teacher and lover the year after he graduated from high school. At least this woman was only 7 years older than the draft dodging Newt, who ended up dumping her in 1980 on the heels of her contracting cancer and him having an affair with another woman. That second wife was also cheated on starting in 1993 and dumped in 2000 for the next younger wife. Wife #2 also reported the Naughty Newt had asked her to engage in a sexually open marriage. Somehow, this American creep has worn the mantle of conservative valued patriot and the incredibly imperceptive public has largely failed to realize what an incredible hypocrite this goof really is, especially since Gingrich was carrying on his sexual affair while simultaneously persecuting President Clinton over the Monica Lewinsky affair.
Is this the best modern industrialized countries can do to find leadership? We have President Donald Trump, thrice married and known to engage in extra-marital affairs while married. The amazing thing is that the public professes to condemn such behavior, and yet votes with no concern for such history, especially baffling on the part of the conservative and religious voters.
Will France elect Emmanuel Macron? It seems likely, and a little incredible in light of the problems with Muslim immigrants in France and Europe at this time. Russian hackers are alleged to be helping Le Pen’s campaign, but without obvious results.
