Joseph Roskos is currently pursuing a MA degree in History at John Carroll University as a graduate assistant with the intention of eventually earning a doctorate. His academic interests revolve around the intersections of race, gender, and class in popular culture, particularly focusing on U.S. social and cultural history after World War II.
His passion for cultural and social history arose out of his curiosity about the messages contained within punk rock music during the 1980s and early 1990s as well as casual, but insightful discussions amongst his friends about Japanese and American science-fiction movies. When he is not at the movie theater, attempting to convince himself that it’s for academic purposes, he can be found at the local video store, scrounging around for rare and obscure VHS tapes that speak volumes about American culture.
