A Brief History
On Tuesday, July 26, 2016, in a perverted sense of social awareness Hillary Clinton has invited the mothers of people “killed” by police (or a citizen, or themselves) to speak at the Democratic National Convention. Hillary Clinton, Elizabeth Warren, Tim Kaine, and other prominent Democrats are perpetuating a myth that African-Americans are at high risk of being murdered by American police, just because of race. Perhaps most notoriously, Elizabeth Warren, already known for fabricating and exploiting her alleged Native American ancestry, in her persistent pandering perpetuated the lie about “hands up, don’t shoot”. As The Washington Post reports, Warren invoked “the phrase ‘hands up, don’t shoot,’ a Ferguson rallying cry that conservatives have attacked as a lie because the Justice Department concluded that Michael Brown’s hands were most likely not up in the air when he was shot and killed by Darren Wilson.”

In previous articles we have put that myth to the test and found it false. See July 8, 2016’s “War Between Blacks and Police?“, and July 15, 2016’s “Real Statistics or Media Hype,? Interracial Crime Facts“, and July 17, 2016’s “Police Ambushed in Baton Rouge“ for more information.
Again and again, police are bashed and a demand for improved “de-escalation” training, cultural sensitivity training and universal body cameras are insisted upon, but the problem of teaching people to behave, obey the law, do what the police tell you to when confronted, and do not resist arrest is totally ignored, when in fact following this advice would have prevented every one of the celebrated incidents where a Black person ended up dead when dealing with the police (or George Zimmerman).
We cannot blame any mother for being distraught over the death of their child, but to lie, mislead, and perpetuate myths does not save other people’s children, it only makes it more likely those children will fear and hate the police, leading to resistance and disobedience that can ultimately lead to the death or injury of the citizen or cop. The throwing of police “under the bus” has (according to the head of the FBI) resulted in a “Ferguson Effect” of police reluctant to aggressively enforce the law which has resulted in a spike of violent crime in places with celebrated cases, such as Ferguson, Cleveland, Chicago, Baltimore, and others. The chanting of Black Lives Matter activists of “Fuck the Police” and “Kill the Pigs” riles up Black citizens and makes confrontation and lack of cooperation more likely, leading to more violent interactions with police.
The so called “Mothers of the Movement” includes moms of children killed in police confrontations that have been serial or career criminals, have resisted arrest, and were breaking the law. Here is some of the background behind these mothers so upset with the police:
Sybrina Fulton is the mother of Trayvon Martin, killed by citizen George Zimmerman in self defense after Trayvon attacked the smaller man and was pounding him into the sidewalk, breaking his nose and damaging the back of Zimmerman’s head. The truth of the incident came out at trial, but people only seem to remember the falsified 911 tape and video that disguised Zimmerman’s injuries and made him look as if he was not obeying the police dispatcher (Zimmerman won an undisclosed sum from NBC). Trayvon Martin was not the cute little kid often shown in photos, but a 6 foot+ creep who was involved in drugs and possible thefts.
Lezley McSpadden is the mother of Michael Brown, he of the phony “Hands up, don’t shoot” lie. Another so called victim, Brown was not the little kid shown in most photos, but a huge (6’4” 292 pounds) thug that had just robbed a convenience store. When confronted by a policeman in a cruiser, Brown attacked the cop who could not get out of his car, tried to take the cop’s gun, and got shot in the hand, retreated and then returned to attack the cop again, getting himself shot to death. Through blatant lies that were proven false later by physical evidence and grand jury testimony, the “Hands up don’t shoot” myth is pervasive and perpetuated by irresponsible politicians and activists. Brown’s step-father was taped during the ensuing riot urging others to burn a building down, which they did, and that ex-con creep was charged with inciting a riot. Of course, Lezley is facing her own problems, charged in conjunction with felony theft and assault against vendors selling Michael Brown T-shirts.
Finally, Gwen Carr is the mother of gigantic criminal Eric “I can’t breathe” Garner. At 6’3” and over 350 pounds, Garner dwarfed the police that were sent to enforce the law against Garner selling loose cigarettes. Described by family and friends as just about the greatest guy imaginable, Garner had been arrested at least 30 times for offenses including resisting arrest, assault, grand larceny, and multiple times for selling “loosies.” When confronted by police, the big man with asthma and a heart condition did not cooperate and physically resisted arrest by swatting the cop’s hands when the cop attempted to handcuff Garner. When he was taken down by police, a cop had an arm around his neck in a headlock that was wrongly described in the media as a “choke hold.” Garner could be heard saying “I can’t breathe” during the incident, and died of a heart attack. Police were blamed by Carr, the media, and idiot politicians for choking the big criminal to death, when in fact if the police are actually choking someone, the choked person cannot speak out loud, proving he was not in a choke hold. At the time of his death, Garner was out on bail for selling “loosies,” impersonation and drug possession.

(Note: As you can tell, we at History and Headlines are sick and tired of unfair cop bashing and the danger it poses to police and citizens.)
